The Gosport Shed successfully presented it’s annual musical review The Big Parade at the Thorngate Halls on October 27th. The audience of 200 were treated to an evening of laughter and music to celebrate the three armed services over the past two hundred years.
With most members of the Shed involved as cast, as back and front of stage groups, also providing direction and technical support, etc. the review it was a true team effort. The show featured the Shed’s ukelele and skiffle bands plus the Shed male choir together with many pieces featured indivdual members. The comody sketches were particualry enjoyed by the audience (complete with some ad-libbing). A special thanks to Mark Acheson who directed and produced the show (as well as appearing in it).
In presenting this the Shed members spent about eight weeks in preparation in rehersals, audio and visual elements, programme design, etc. to bring it altogether on the night. The Gosport Shed exists to provide the older men og Gosport and the surrounding areas a place to meet new friends and participate in activities with others. In putting this show togther it certainly met the objectives of the Shed.
The ticket sales for the show included a £2 donation tothe british Legion’s poppy appeal raising £400 for the appeal.
