30 members of the Gosport Shed visited the RNLI College in Poole for a guided tour of the college and manufacturing boathouse. The RNLI tour guides were able to provide the shedders with details of the history and developement of the RNLI over its 200 years history, details of the methods used to construct the all weather lifeboats built on site and the detials of the RNLI volunteers’ training as well as the funding of the charity. The tour included experiencing the offshore lifeboat simulator, which some found so realistic that they felt seasick even though they did not actually move!

A very well organised and informative visit.
